The University is looking to appoint a lecturer who can contribute to the delivery of its two LLB (Hons) programmes which are accredited by the Law Society of Scotland and the Faculty of Advocates. We are particularly interested in interviewing candidates with an interest in teaching a range of core Scottish law modules such as Criminal law, Delict, Evidence and Property. Experience in legal practice in Scotland will be an advantage but is not a requirement, as is teaching the above-mentioned modules at tertiary level in Scotland. A Scottish law LLB (Hons) will be an advantage but is not a requirement if the candidate has suitable relevant teaching experience. An LLM or PhD will be an advantage but again is not an absolute requirement.

Abertay Law delivers two LLB (Hons) programmes: an undergraduate LLB (Hons) programme in Scots law and an undergraduate LLB (Hons) with Criminology programme which is focused on preparing graduates for a career in the criminal justice system. Our programmes have a strong emphasis on the development of transferable skills along with the academic discipline of law. We were rated first in Scotland and first in the UK for student satisfaction with teaching in the National Student Survey (NSS We further contribute to the delivery of law modules in other departments and faculties across the University and are in the process of developing a master's programme in Cyber Law and Policy in cooperation with colleagues from our world-leading Department of Cybersecurity. We supervise a number of research master's and PhD candidates and there is an established research culture which led to a successful submission to the REF2021. This, therefore, is an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to contribute to the further development of the department.

The post holder will also develop research objectives, projects and proposals and carry out individual or collaborative research projects aligned with the Abertay Research and Knowledge Exchange Strategy.
