County Hall Newport, United Kingdom Isle of Wight Council Full time

These are exciting times on the Isle of Wight within the Adult Social Care Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) Team, as we have expanded in recent years and are looking for a part time DoLS Coordinator who is enthusiastic and can support the Team in their work.

The Isle of Wight Council has a range of responsibilities under DoLS, and the Mental Capacity Act as a Supervisory Body and this post will support the DoLS Team in managing and developing systems that ensure the Council's duties are effectively discharged.

The duties will include managing enquiries, referrals and allocation for assessments and authorisations of DoLS requests; developing and maintaining IT systems to support this day-to-day work; and the collection and analysis of data for both local and national data returns.

Knowledge of the relevant legislation within Adult Social Care is essential particularly the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards 2009, as this is key to the Coordinators role of improving the teams processes and to enabling the team to adapt to these.

Applicants should have a wide experience and knowledge of using standard IT software, Maths and English at GCSE grade A-C equivalent, and excellent communication and customer service skills. You will require experience of Adult Social Care systems and developing administrative systems. You must be able to prioritise and organise tasks in a busy setting and be flexible to manage varying workloads and deadlines.

In return regular supervision will be provided within the DoLS Team as well as an annual review.
