Loretto School is one of Britain's leading independent boarding and day schools located on the outskirts of Edinburgh and we have an exciting opportunity for a highly professional and people-focused individual to join our Finance Team.

The right candidate will enjoy working in an exciting but challenging environment and form an integral part of the finance team, and school community. Reporting to the Head of Finance, the postholder will prepare monthly management accounts, assist in the preparation of budget and forecasts in addition to acting as a finance business partner across the School.

Your main responsibilities will include:

Managing month-end close processPreparation of monthly management accounts and other financial reportsVariance Analysis of actuals versus budgetProviding meaningful insight & commentary on financial performanceBuilding relationships with key budget holders & providing supportQuarterly VAT returnsOffice for National Statistics surveysSupporting with preparation of budgets and forecastsDeveloping robust processes and controlsAssisting with year-end accounts and audit

You will be a fully qualified Accountant(ACCA,CIMA or any other professional accounting body) with experience in a similar role. With an understanding of SORP and VAT & Tax compliance standards, you will have strong analytical and problem solving skills, a strong work ethic and a demonstrable business improvement mindset.

Proactive, and a good team player, your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to present financial information to non-finance staff members.

You will have great attention to detail with the ability to manage a variety of tasks with excellent MS Office knowledge and advanced knowledge of Excel. Experience of working within the education sector is desirable.

This is a permanent, full-time post and the successful candidate will work 52 weeks per year, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday although there may be some occasions when additional hours will be necessary for the completion of the duties of the position.

Salary will be determined by experience and aptitude for the role but will be in the range of £35,000 to £40,000 per annum plus benefits.
