The business has grown consistently year-on-year and is now profitable, with strong plans to scale further in 2026.About the companyA UK-based consulting business with a strong social impact mission, focused on driving positive change and creating opportunities through its work. Having operated for several years, the company has achieved consistent double-digit revenue growth and is supported by a lean and effective finance function, including the CFO, Head of Finance (on leave), and an offshore accounts assistant.The roleThe Head of Finance will report directly to the CFO and take ownership of core finance operations, ensuring robust controls, timely reporting, and continuous improvement of processes. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a commercial mindset and strong attention to detail.Key responsibilitiesLead and enhance the month-end close process, including payroll, invoicing and credit control, quarterly sales commissions, and non-cash adjustmentsMaintain and improve transaction and control processes, ensuring readiness for external auditManage tax returns and year-end close activitiesOversee and develop the offshore accounts assistant providing day-to-day supportSupport the CFO with KPI and performance reporting across financial and non-financial metricsExperience & qualificationsMinimum of 2 years’ post-qualified experience, ideally operating at Financial Controller levelBackground in working with SMEs, ideally in manufacturing or people-based industriesACA qualification preferred (ACCA, CIMA also considered)Behaviours & mindsetProactive and growth-oriented: driven to learn and take on increasing responsibilityDiligent and process-focused: highly organised with strong attention to accuracy and deadlinesStrong stakeholder management: able to communicate clearly, set expectations, and maintain professional relationshipsTech stackEssential: Xero, Payfit, Google Sheets / Excel (Power Query experience advantageous)Beneficial: Airtable, ApprovalMax, BambooHR, Cledara, PleoThis is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on finance professional seeking a flexible, high-impact role within a values-led, fast-scaling business.
