Join Our Team as a QHSE Manager
Are you a dedicated professional with a passion for maintaining and enhancing Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) standards? We are looking for a proactive QHSE Manager to join our fast-paced and growing organisation to lead and drive our QHSE initiatives to the next level.
With Harper UK's recent achievement of Fit 4 Offshore Renewables (F4OR) status, this role is pivotal in maintaining our commitment to excellence, particularly as we expand our footprint in the renewable energy sector.

Please Note: Candidates must be based within daily commuting distance of Colpy, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership in QHSE: Provide strategic advice to Directors, Department Managers, and Line Management regarding all aspects of Health, Safety, and Environment, ensuring compliance with legislation, Harper UK’s standards, and client requirements.
- Environmental Stewardship: Lead initiatives to enhance environmental performance, particularly in alignment with our F4OR status, focusing on sustainable practices and minimising environmental impacts in all projects, especially within the renewables industry.
- Integrated Management System (IMS) Oversight: Promote and manage the IMS, ensuring its effectiveness and continual improvement. Plan and conduct IMS audits, including environmental audits, and serve as the focal point for all external audits by clients and accreditation bodies.
- Performance Monitoring: Use proactive and reactive techniques to monitor and analyse QHSE performance. Provide detailed monthly reports, including environmental performance metrics, to management and the workforce.
- Risk Management: Assist in the preparation and review of risk assessments, COSHH assessments, and safe systems of work with a particular focus on environmental risks and mitigations, particularly in offshore renewable projects.
- Incident Management: Lead investigations into significant environmental incidents, ensuring root cause analysis and corrective actions are implemented effectively.
- Client and Government Liaison: Maintain strong relationships with client safety representatives and local government agencies, including those focused on environmental regulation and compliance.
- Training and Development: Develop and deliver environmental training programs and ensure all employees are aware of their roles in supporting Harper UK's environmental objectives, particularly in the context of our expanding work in the renewable sector.
- Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain emergency response procedures, including environmental emergency response, to ensure readiness for any incidents that may arise during project execution.
Qualifications & Competencies:
- Proven experience in a QHSE role with a strong emphasis on environmental management, preferably within a welding/ fabrication environment or manufacturing sector.
- In-depth knowledge of environmental legislation and best practices.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Relevant certifications in Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental management (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, ISO standards).
- Experience in managing and continuously improving integrated management systems.
What we offer:
- Salary from £55,000 dependent on capability and potential, technically and behaviourally
- Company pension
- Free onsite parking
- Health & wellbeing programme
- Private Healthcare
- Cash Plan incl 24/7 online GP access
