A banking client of mine is seeking a motivated and experienced Credit Risk Manager to manage a portfolio of some of the UK's largest companies within the Utilities sector.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage an active portfolio of counterparties in the Utilities sector, developing strategic relationships with some of the largest companies in the UK.
  • Conduct independent credit assessments for new opportunities and annual reviews, with recommendations presented to sanctioners. You’ll identify and analyse key financial, structural, operational, and environmental risks, providing clear and actionable recommendations to support informed decision-making.
  • Leverage external research from specialist information providers, credit rating agencies, and media reports to evaluate clients’ positioning within a rapidly changing external environment.
  • Collaborate closely with relationship managers, originators, and product partners to develop robust credit proposals, ensuring a balance of risk and reward.
  • Monitor the performance of your portfolio and escalate emerging risks to senior management, ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory policies.
  • Take part in sector-wide reviews with key stakeholders, identifying areas of both risk and opportunity.
  • Lead high-level credit-focused meetings with external clients and internal teams, drawing on your prior experience to help shape and improve team processes.
  • Expand your knowledge and expertise in the Utilities sector and corporate credit analysis through hands-on experience.


Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in corporate credit analysis, preferably within Regulated and Integrated Utilities.
  • A strong track record in assessing large corporates and managing complex lending and derivative transactions.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to analyse and manipulate complex financial models (strong Excel skills required).
  • The ability to build strong working relationships and work effectively within a supportive, ambitious team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, ensuring clarity and precision in your recommendations.
