The Company currently writes lines of business including; specialty insurance: aviation & aerospace, energy, marine, property, terror & political violence, contingency and other specialty lines; reinsurance: property reinsurance, property retrocession, specialty reinsurance, whole account/multi-class and bespoke.


Role Overview


Fidelis Underwriting is a privately owned MGU, engaged in writing business on behalf of the Fidelis

Insurance Group through a long-term binder agreement. With offices in Dublin, London, and

Bermuda, Fidelis Underwriting is a global provider of specialty insurance and reinsurance

products. Fidelis is one of the fastest growing London Insurance companies in the market.


The Group wrote $1.3bn of GWP in 2021, a 2022 GWP of $2.8bn, and plans to exceed $3.4bn in 2023. The Group is expanding their Group Actuarial function to build out their Pricing team. Fidelis has market leading systems and want to continue to develop its data driven decision making. The

Team works closely with Senior Management in strategic decisions for the Group, specifically on

catastrophe modelling and actuarial pricing.


The team supports multiple lines of business in regards of pricing, portfolio management and business planning. The Pricing Actuary will report to the Head of Property Pricing and be responsible for producing case pricing, model development, portfolio analysis and business planning encompassing Direct & Facultative, Energy (renewables), Construction, Terrorism and Treaty.


Duties and Responsibilities


  • Inwards treaty and case pricing for property lines, providing underwriters with a range of
  • metrics to inform decision-making.
  • Developing of tools and models for underwriters to price individual risks and manage their
  • portfolios.
  • Perform portfolio analysis, generate KPIs and identify areas of portfolio optimisation to increase profitability whilst meeting client’s needs.
  • Prepare presentations for stakeholders, including senior management, reinsurance partners and investors.
  • Model prospective outward programmes for these lines of business, offering metrics on pricing, capital implications, and expected profitability impact.
  • Engage with Underwriters and Planning Teams to optimize PML and capital deployment by lines and region based on an agreed range of metrics.
  • Maintain an up-to-date business plan.
  • Support head or property pricing team with ad-hoc projects to assist current and future business needs.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience


  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a London Market or reinsurance pricing discipline.
  • Delivery focused.
  • Effective communication and engagement abilities with experience of working directly with underwriters or brokers.
  • Proficient in supporting outwards reinsurance structuring and pricing.
  • Strong Excel skills are essential. Programming proficiency in Excel, Python, R are desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to combine technical analysis with judgment to provide insights for commercial decision-makers, while appropriately considering analytical limitations.
