Your responsibilities will include:Managing, monitoring and optimising Postgres and SQL Server environmentsSupporting a strategic migration from on-premises databases into cloud-hosted services (AWS RDS)Designing and implementing database architecture, backup strategies and security standardsTroubleshooting performance issues and supporting production systemsDelivering upgrades, migrations and new installations across environmentsPartnering with developers on database design and SQL optimisationDriving automation and contributing to the organisation's DevOps directionWorking closely with infrastructure and application teams to enhance reliability and service qualityParticipating in an on-call rota and occasional weekend work when requiredWhat You’ll NeedEssential: Expert knowledge of Postgres, including experience with large, distributed estates Strong SQL skills and the ability to diagnose and optimise performance bottlenecks Competence with automation tools (PowerShell, Python or similar) Hands-on experience supporting production environments and mission-critical systems Strong understanding of High Availability and Disaster Recovery technologies and database security Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across teams A proactive mindset and enthusiasm for learning emerging tools and technologiesDesirable Exposure to AWS (or other cloud platforms) for database hosting Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code, virtualisation, or containerisation Experience using Git and CI/CD tooling Background in financial services or other highly regulated environmentsIf you’re looking to join a high-growth technology business where you can influence database strategy and work with modern cloud architectures, we’d welcome your application.Apply now through Tempest Vane Partners.
