Associate Director – Geo-Environmental Services

As an Associate Director – Geo-Environmental Services, you will play a key role in driving the company's growth and development, overseeing the technical, operational, and commercial delivery of geo-environmental projects.
In this senior leadership role, you will lead project teams, provide technical expertise, manage client relationships, and ensure the successful execution of projects in alignment with company objectives. This position requires a strong blend of technical proficiency and strategic leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Delivery & Leadership:
- Oversee the delivery of complex geo-environmental projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and budget.
- Provide technical direction and ensure high-quality outputs across areas such as contaminated land assessment, site investigation, geotechnical analysis, and remediation strategy development.
- Manage all stages of project delivery, from initial scoping and proposal preparation through to final reporting and client handover.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead and mentor a team of technical professionals, promoting a culture of collaboration, development, and high performance.
- Provide day-to-day guidance to junior staff, ensuring effective delegation of tasks, development opportunities, and performance management.
- Work with senior management to ensure resource allocation is appropriate and optimize team performance across multiple concurrent projects.
Client & Stakeholder Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and new clients, ensuring client satisfaction and repeat business.
- Lead client meetings, manage expectations, and ensure that the team delivers on agreed project objectives.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies, contractors, and other stakeholders as necessary to ensure compliance with relevant environmental and health & safety regulations.
Financial Management & Reporting:
- Take responsibility for the financial performance of assigned projects, including forecasting, budget management, and ensuring projects are delivered within agreed financial tarets.
- Prepare and review project budgets, monitor cash flow, and implement corrective actions as required to address any deviations.
- Contribute to the overall financial management of the department and ensure that key performance indicators (KPIs) are met.
Health, Safety, and Compliance:
- Ensure that all projects are compliant with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
- Oversee risk assessments, safety plans, and ensure all necessary documentation and procedures are in place to support safe working practices.
- Champion a strong safety culture within the team and across projects.
Business Development & Strategy:
- Support the strategic growth of our geo-environmental services, identifying opportunities for business development and new client acquisition.
- Lead or support the preparation of tenders and proposals for new projects, working closely with business development and senior management teams.
- Contribute to the long-term planning and direction of the geo-environmental services offering, including service expansion and market positioning.
Quality Assurance & Technical Excellence:
- Ensure all project deliverables meet the company's quality standards and comply with relevant technical, environmental, and legal guidelines.
- Review and approve technical reports, assessments, and proposals to maintain high standards.
- Provide technical leadership on key projects, identifying and addressing complex environmental challenges.
Qualifications & Experience:
- A degree in Environmental Science, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience in geo-environmental consultancy, with in-depth knowledge of contaminated land, ground investigations, remediation techniques, and environmental risk assessments.
- Proven experience in managing and delivering geo-environmental projects in the UK, including project management, client interaction, and team leadership.
- Strong understanding of UK environmental and planning regulations.
- Experience in managing project budgets, timelines, and resources.
