The Regional Head of HSE is responsible for overseeing and managing the health, safety, and environmental functions across multiple sites within a designated region in the UK. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining effective HSE policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with all relevant UK regulations and to promote a safe working environment within this leading civil engineering company.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute regional HSE strategies in alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Implement HSE policies, standards, and practices across all regional sites.
  • Ensure compliance with all UK HSE regulations, including those set by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and Environment Agency.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant UK laws and regulations and ensure company practices adhere to them..
  • Ensure all staff are adequately trained in HSE practices and procedures.
  • Lead investigations of incidents, accidents, and near-misses.
  • Prepare detailed reports and recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for HSE.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on HSE performance to senior management.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement in HSE practices.
  • Identify and implement innovative solutions to enhance safety and environmental performance.
  • Manage and mentor the regional HSE team, providing guidance and support.
  • Promote a proactive and positive safety culture within the organisation.


Candidate profile

  • CMIOSH calibre individual
  • Vast experience of a broad range of civil engineering disciplines
  • Strong knowledge of UK HSE regulations and best practices.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing HSE programs and initiatives.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Regular travel within the Northern region is required.
  • Ability to work on-site at various project locations as needed.
