Grid Engineer

I am supporting an established UK Developer for a Grid Engineer position, the projects will be predominantly utility-scale ground-mount solar and battery storage projects. They are private equity backed and have a track record of developing hundreds of MW's in the UK. This hire will be the third engineer in the specialist grid team.


Roles and Responsibilities

  • Attend industry and engagement conferences and events to maintain relationships with DNOs/IDNOs/TNO/ICPs, and other relevant technology partners the business works with
  • Monitor and report on grid connection progress and performance.
  • Assist in preparing and submitting grid connection applications and managing the approval process
  • Support in liaising with grid operators, regulators, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with grid connection requirements and regulations.
  • Running electrical power system studies using PSSE, Power Factory or similar power system software is a plus.


Skills and Experience:

  • Degree in engineering, preferably electrical engineering, but other disciplines accepted.
  • Comfortable initiating contact and building relationships with the DNOs, TNOs, ICPs, EPCs, and other 3rd party advisors.
  • Knowledge of grid connection regulations and energy markets is a plus.
  • Understanding of the G99 process, Grid Code, CUSC, and other distribution and transmission policies.
