Junior Editor & Vision Mixer – LBC

This role is offered as an ongoing casual engagement

Overview of job


As Junior Editor & Vision Mixer - LBC, you will be vision mixing and studio operating across LBC’s output from our Westminster studio.


You’ll primarily work from our office at Millbank in Westminster alongside our highly skilled team of radio producers. You will help pre-record interviews and edit clips as well as outputting the shows as they are streamed live to Global Player, cutting cameras and replaying the pre-recorded content you created.


A successful candidate will be enthusiastic, eager to learn and quick at adapting to the needs of the shows. You’ll be proud to show off your work and have a keen eye for detail and be a great communicator.

Measures of success –


In the first few months, you would have


  • Vision mixed full shows which are streamed out live to Global Player, YouTube and TikTok.
  • Been trained on the workflows for each of the shows you will be working on and built relationships with the radio production team.
  • Have gained a strong understanding of the studio technical infrastructure on an operational level.
  • Trained on our department servers, ingest and archive systems.


Responsibilities of the role

  • Work from our Millbank control room, capturing and vision mixing content from our industry leading visualised radio studio.
  • Be able to edit speedily and to a high standard to a deadline.
  • Support less technical team members in their use of the studio.
  • Troubleshoot technical faults and work with our broadcast engineers remotely to fix faults where possible.
  • Have a critical eye for LBC’s live output, feeding back on shot framings of remote guests, and feeding back to the text producer on the content of live graphics.



What you will need


  • Experience vision mixing for factual and entertainment interviews, examples of previous work would be welcome.
  • Knowledge of using a Newtek TriCaster and Blackmagic ATEM vision mixers is an advantage but training will be provided.
  • A good level of editing is required ideally in Adobe premiere pro. Edits will be very minimal but delivery will need to be very quick.
  • Knowledge of PTZ camera operation and the filming process.
  • Enjoy the technical aspects of vision mixing and live recording and learning about how things work.
  • Be a great communicator, friendly and professional.
  • Be willing to primarily work in the afternoons and evenings.
  • Experience working in a live broadcast environment.
