Programme Lead / Product Coach - 3 Month Contract

We’re looking to hire somebody in a dual Programme Lead / Product Coach role for a leading digital consultancy, to work on a Public Sector project.


Our client ensures that public services are holistic and futureproofed, so they can ultimately meet the needs of those who use them.


The successful candidate will hold the following responsibilities:


Programme Lead:


  • Strategic Alignment: Collaborate with leadership to update and align the programme's vision, missions, and strategy with departmental and divisional goals.
  • Programme Evaluation: Assess the current state of programme products, identifying strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement to maximize value delivery.
  • Mission Setting: Define strategic missions for the upcoming financial year, outlining key goals, initiatives, and milestones to drive long-term success.
  • Roadmap Integration: Work with Product Managers to ensure product roadmaps align with overarching strategy, incorporating measurable Key Results to track progress and impact.
  • Governance & Standards: Partner with cross-functional leaders to establish and deliver Definitions of Ready and Done for key project phases, ensuring consistency and quality.


Product Coach


  • Roadmap Management: Guide Product Managers in maintaining and regularly updating Now, Next, Later (NNL) roadmaps to reflect progress against OKRs and product strategy, ensuring alignment with SLT expectations.
  • Backlog Optimization: Coach teams on refining and prioritizing backlogs in Azure DevOps, ensuring accurate ticket statuses and realistic commitment to deliverables.
  • Workflow Efficiency: Establish and embed triage and front-door processes to streamline incoming work into prioritized backlogs, aligning with product goals and squad workflows.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Promote a culture of continuous improvement by leveraging product metrics and analytics to prioritize work, track goals, and measure delivery impact.
  • Alignment & Standards: Ensure product goals and metrics align transparently with the division’s overarching strategy, coaching teams to adopt Definitions of Ready and Done for discovery and alpha phases.


Requirements are straightforward and non-negotiable. To be considered for this role, you will need recent experience working in government, a track record of success in relevant Programme and Product roles, and you must have previous exposure to everything listed above, which can be supported with examples at interview stage.
