The Role


As an Assistant Manager, you will take on greater responsibility in overseeing audit engagements and supporting the audit teams. The role offers clear opportunities for career progression and professional development. You will work closely with audit managers and provide guidance to audit teams, ensuring audits run smoothly and efficiently with minimal supervision.


Key responsibilities may include:


  • Supervising Audit Assignments: Supporting audit teams on a range of owner-managed businesses, including small and large companies, partnerships, and sole traders, ensuring audits are progressing as planned.
  • Client Engagement Support: Assisting in audit meetings with clients and reporting back to the audit manager when necessary, ensuring key issues are escalated appropriately.
  • Audit Process Supervision: Overseeing the planning, execution, and finalisation of audits, identifying risks, and ensuring that the audit process stays on track, while providing guidance to audit teams.
  • Team Support and Development: Supervising and mentoring audit teams, offering coaching to enhance both technical skills and soft skills, and providing support with client interactions.
  • Process Improvement: Contributing to the enhancement of audit processes to improve efficiency and client satisfaction.


Skills and experience:


  • Qualified Accountant: ACCA or equivalent accounting qualification.
  • Supervisory Experience: Proven experience in a supervisory role within an Audit and Accounts practice.
  • Audit Knowledge: Strong understanding of audit processes, regulatory obligations, and quality standards.
  • Risk Management: Experience in identifying and addressing risks to ensure audits remain of high quality.
  • Client Management: Strong client relationship skills, able to support the audit manager in maintaining long-term client connections.
  • Coaching and Mentoring: Experience in mentoring and supporting audit teams, enhancing both technical and interpersonal skills.

Additionally, you will need a full driving licence and access to a vehicle as this is key for this role.
