  • Data Integration and Analysis: Integrate high-resolution satellite data, in situ measurements, and geospatial data layers from open-source repositories and other sources (including bathymetry, ocean circulation, rugosity, habitat maps, fishing pressure, sea surface temperature, and species occurrence data) to develop a comprehensive understanding of ecosystem impacts.
  • Development of Targeted Models: Where gaps exist, design and develop new predictive models that enhance our understanding of specific phenomena (e.g., species distribution under climate impacts, eDNA dispersal models).
  • Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work closely with our marine biologist and data scientist, and GIS experts to integrate ecological insights into broader environmental models, ensuring outcomes are relevant and actionable.
  • Project Leadership: Lead the technical aspects of collaborative projects with industry partners, ensuring alignment with Ocean OS’s objectives and delivering high-quality outputs for clients.

  • Experience working with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Earth Engine) for processing large geospatial datasets, unit testing, and version control (git, GitHub)
  • Familiarity with satellite data processing and integration of diverse data sources (e.g., environmental, ecological, and remote sensing data) is a plus
  • Experience with eDNA data integration is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical information into actionable insights.
