Manufacturing Engineer


Purpose of the Role:

As a Manufacturing Engineer - Body Assembly , you will leverage your process improvement expertise to assess current production systems, reduce costs, and optimize capacity. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with a comprehensive understanding of manufacturing operations.

You will play a key role in enhancing and developing the manufacturing processes used by our production teams to build high-performance vehicles. Additionally, you will support the integration of new model build processes into series production, focusing on continuous improvement, quality investigations, and advanced industrial engineering techniques.


Key Responsibilities:

Process Optimization:

  • Update and manage process sequencing, documentation, and product traceability methodologies.
  • Maintain and refine PFMEAs and Quality Control Plans.
  • Implement and monitor Lean Manufacturing and error-proofing strategies.

Production Efficiency:

  • Generate and report Hours Per Car (HPC) data, ensuring efficiency and output targets are met.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to resolve production bottlenecks.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Utilize tools such as 8D, Six Sigma, 4M’s, PDCA, and Kaizen to enhance process quality and throughput.
  • Lead facility layout design and material flow improvements for new and existing models.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Support tooling solutions for Body in White processes.
  • Provide leadership to cross-functional teams on manufacturing process and capability development.


Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering (2:1 or above), or equivalent experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in:
  • Vehicle assembly and body assembly processes.
  • Specification and procurement of assembly equipment.
  • Resolving product-related quality issues.
  • Safe working practices.
  • Proficiency with CATIA or similar 3D software is advantageous.
