Position Overview: An exciting opportunity exists for a talented and experienced Legal Counsel to join the legal team and support our client's operations in the United Kingdom. Reporting to the Head of Legal for UK operations, the successful candidate will play a key role in providing legal advice and support on a wide range of matters, including project development, commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated legal professional to contribute to the success of a dynamic and innovative renewable energy company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice and support on project development activities, including site acquisition, permitting, land rights, and environmental matters.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, including power purchase agreements (PPAs), construction contracts, supply agreements, and service contracts.
  • Advise on regulatory matters affecting renewable energy projects, including planning and zoning regulations, environmental permitting, and grid connection requirements.
  • Assist in the management of legal risks and compliance issues, including monitoring changes in laws and regulations and implementing appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Support corporate transactions and governance matters, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and corporate restructuring.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including project development teams, finance teams, and external consultants, to address legal issues and support business objectives.
  • Manage relationships with external legal counsel and other service providers to ensure efficient and effective delivery of legal services.


Qualifications and Personal Attributes:

  • Qualified solicitor with 3-5 years of post-qualification experience, preferably gained at a leading law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Strong expertise in energy law, with a focus on renewable energy projects, project finance, and commercial transactions.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience working in the renewable energy sector is preferred, but not required.
