The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating, installing and managing our databases. You will ensure optimal database performance by analyzing database issues and monitoring database performance.


Responsibilities


What you will be doing:


Governance

Manage appropriate levels of access to data and auditing of DBA/Developer activities

Assist with development of IGA/PAM solutions for automation of the data access lifecycle (joiners, movers, leavers, access recertification, drift detection)

Collaborating on data governance policies, data quality standards and data security measures.

Operational

Working with developers and SRE’s to diagnose and fix problems in production environments

Processing customer GDPR requests for access or deletion of personal data

Participating in the periodic on-call rota

Maintenance activities

Cost management

Capacity/scalability/performance management

Performing high availability and recovery testing

Performing version upgrades

Design and Implementation

Designing and building appropriate monitoring and alerting

Developing Terraform and Python code to automate management of backend databases

Work closely with development teams and data engineering/warehousing teams to help them design appropriate data models and data flows, and produce database migrations

Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to enhance the data architecture and infrastructure in alignment with business objectives.

Develop and maintain good quality documentation


What you will need to be successful in your role:

Proven experience as a Database administrator/developer or a similar role, with a strong focus on designing and implementing data solutions in a cloud environment.

Expertise in DevOps practices and automation tooling such as Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM templates and scripting languages like Python

Proficiency in designing, implementing and optimizing database solutions using Postgres/Aurora.

Strong understanding of data modeling, data integration patterns, and ETL processes.

Experience with data governance, data security, and data quality management.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.

Other things which would be nice to have

Relevant qualifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Data Analytics Specialty, or AWS Certified Big Data Specialty

Experience with NoSQL DB’s like Dynamo, Mongo, Neo4j, ElasticSearch

Experience with tools for managing unstructured data, semi-structured data and graphs

Experience with Java/SpringBoot microservices

Experience with Kubernetes

Experience with Agile, LEAN, DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
