Position Overview:
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Data Centre Supervisor to lead our team of technicians in our Acton data centre. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in data centre operations and demonstrate excellent leadership skills. This role involves overseeing daily operations, ensuring the efficient running of the data centre, and maintaining high standards of performance and security.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership:
- Supervise and mentor a team of 5 technicians, providing guidance and support to ensure effective and efficient performance.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
- Coordinate and delegate tasks and projects among the team.
Operational Management:
- Oversee daily data centre operations, including server maintenance, hardware installations, and network troubleshooting.
- Ensure that all equipment and systems are functioning optimally and take corrective actions when necessary.
- Manage scheduled and emergency maintenance activities with minimal disruption to services.
Quality and Compliance:
- Implement and enforce data centre policies and procedures to maintain high standards of quality and compliance.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and industry regulations, including environmental and security standards.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify and resolve any operational or safety issues.
Incident Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for incident management, including troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
- Coordinate with other departments and vendors to address and resolve complex issues and outages.
Project Management:
- Lead and support data centre projects, including system upgrades, capacity planning, and infrastructure improvements.
- Develop project plans, timelines, and resource allocation to ensure timely and successful project completion.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of data centre operations, including incident reports, maintenance logs, and inventory.
- Prepare and present regular reports on operational performance, incidents, and team activities to the Data Centre Manager.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred; relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Cisco, or equivalent) are a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a data centre or IT operations role, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead position.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of data centre infrastructure, including servers, storage systems, networking, and power management. Proficiency in data centre management software and tools.
- Leadership: Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proactive approach to resolving issues.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with team members, management, and external stakeholders.

- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Working Conditions:
