Job Title: Sr Finance Manager - UK


Job Description: Senior Finance Manger (UK) is a senior-level executive who oversees the financial planning and analysis functions within an organization. This role involves providing strategic financial insights, supporting decision-making processes, and driving the company's financial planning activities to ensure effective resource allocation and financial management. This role collaborates closely with executive leadership and various departments to provide valuable financial guidance and support.


Key responsibilities:


  1. Financial Planning: Leading the development and execution of the company's financial planning processes, including annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning. This may involve coordinating with different departments to gather relevant data and inputs.
  2. Financial Analysis: Conducting in-depth financial analysis, including variance analysis, trend analysis, and scenario modeling to identify key performance drivers and areas for improvement. Providing insights and recommendations to senior management based on these analyses.
  3. Strategic Decision Support: Collaborating with the executive team to provide financial insights and support for strategic decision-making. This includes evaluating potential investments, conducting financial due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, and assessing the financial impact of various business initiatives.
  4. Financial Modeling: Developing and maintaining sophisticated financial models to assess the financial impact of different scenarios and strategic decisions. This includes creating models for revenue forecasting, cost management, and capital allocation.
  5. Performance Reporting: Preparing and presenting comprehensive financial reports, including key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics, to the executive team and the board of directors. Communicating complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
  6. Risk Management: Identifying and managing financial risks, including market risks, operational risks, and financial exposures. Developing strategies to mitigate these risks and ensure the financial stability of the organization.
  7. Team Leadership: Managing and developing the FP&A team, providing mentorship, training, and guidance to ensure the team's continuous professional development and high-quality performance.
  8. Systems and Process Improvement: Overseeing the implementation and enhancement of financial planning and analysis systems and processes to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  9. Compliance and Governance: Ensuring that financial planning and analysis activities comply with relevant regulatory requirements, accounting standards, and internal policies.


Skills and Qualifications:


  1. Financial Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of financial principles, accounting standards, and financial analysis techniques. This includes a deep understanding of budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and variance analysis.
  2. Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights. Proficiency in using financial modeling and data analysis tools is essential.
  3. Leadership Abilities: Proven leadership skills to manage and mentor a team of financial professionals effectively. This includes the ability to provide guidance, motivate team members, and foster a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  4. Strategic Thinking: The capability to think strategically and provide valuable financial insights to support the company's long-term goals and business objectives. This involves the ability to assess the financial implications of various strategic decisions and initiatives.
  5. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders, including senior management and the board of directors. This includes the ability to present financial reports and findings in a clear and concise manner.
  6. Business Acumen: A strong understanding of the industry, market dynamics, and competitive landscape to provide context for financial analysis and strategic decision-making.
  7. Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in financial management software, data analysis tools, and ERP systems. Familiarity with financial reporting systems and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel are often required.
  8. Collaboration: The ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including executives, department heads, and other key stakeholders, to gather relevant data and insights for financial analysis and planning.
  9. Decision-Making Skills: Sound judgment and decision-making skills to assess risks, evaluate opportunities, and make informed recommendations based on financial analysis and modeling.
  10. Cost Accounting Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of cost accounting principles and experience in managing and analyzing manufacturing costs, including direct and indirect costs, cost of goods sold, and inventory valuation.
  11. Education and Experience: A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is typically required, along with several years of relevant work experience in financial analysis, planning and management. A master's degree in business administration (MBA) or finance and professional certifications such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) may be preferred or required for some positionsTop of Form
