Data Platform Technical Architect

London/Hybrid

Salary up to £90,000 plus generous bonus


An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a well-known organisation in the insurance space, within a Data Platform Technical Lead role. This represents the chance to embark on a greenfield project within a forward thinking company, who are looking to accelerate data driven decision making and AI capability within the business.


Key Responsibilities:


  • EDP Architecture Leadership: Lead and define the overall Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) architecture, focusing on core technology components, integration, and consumption patterns to meet the needs of diverse data and analytics use cases across the company.
  • Technology Component Ownership: Architect and optimize core platform components, such as data storage, data processing, security, and monitoring, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and aligned with RSA’s business and technology requirements.
  • Integration Patterns and Frameworks: Define and implement architecture patterns for integrating data from various systems into the EDP and ensuring seamless data consumption for analytics, reporting, and machine learning purposes.
  • Platform as a Service (PaaS) Enablement: Enable the delivery of Platform as a Service (PaaS) to internal teams and business units, ensuring easy access to data platform capabilities and promoting platform adoption.
  • Connectivity and Integration: Establish and manage the platform’s connectivity with wider systems, ensuring smooth integration between the EDP and other critical systems such as CRM, policy management, and claims systems.
  • Architecture Governance Representation: Represent the EDP in architecture governance forums, ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide architecture principles, technology standards, and data governance policies


Skills:


  • Proven experience in architecting and managing large-scale enterprise data platforms, with a focus on cloud-based solutions using Azure and Databricks.
  • Strong background in designing and implementing integration patterns.
  • Experience in enabling PaaS models for internal data products development and consumer teams, promoting platform self-service and operational efficiency.
  • Extensive knowledge of data security and governance practices, including compliance with regulatory frameworks.
  • Expertise in cost management within cloud environments, ensuring efficient use of resources while maintaining performance and scalability.
  • Understanding of how to architect data platforms to support machine learning pipelines, data science workloads, and advanced analytics at scale

The ideal candidate will have upwards of 3 years experience, preferably within the insurance or financial services sector.


This is a hybrid role with 2-3 days per week worked in the London office and there is a generous bonus and benefits package on offer.
