Trainee Tax Technician (ATT)

Our respected client, a prominent accountancy practice with a strong presence and stellar reputation in the Southwest region, is seeking a dedicated Trainee Tax Technician to join their dynamic team on a full-time, permanent basis.


This role provides full practical and theoretical training for the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) qualification. Training will cover essential tax legislation, case law, and economic principles. You’ll also have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in both personal and business tax matters, all while receiving mentoring and support throughout your journey.

The responsibilities:

  • Provide essential support to the team in delivering a variety of taxation services to a diverse client base.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax returns and other HM Revenue & Customs compliance documents.
  • Use specialised software to manage and document financial transactions accurately.
  • Contribute to personal and corporate tax computations, regular VAT returns, and bookkeeping tasks.
  • Gather and analyse financial data to assist in planning, decision-making, and control processes.


The candidate:

  • Professional, adaptable, and analytical with a focus on detail.
  • A strong communicator with excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and quick to pick up new software tools.
  • Demonstrates a solid track record of academic achievements, with strong GCSE and A-level (or equivalent) results preferred. Other academic backgrounds will be considered.
  • Displays initiative, prioritisation skills, and a team-oriented approach.
  • Keen interest in pursuing a career in taxation, with the ability to study and pass formal exams.
