Senior System Engineer

A Senior System Engineer is required by our major investment banking client based in London. As a Senior System Engineer you will leverage your deep knowledge of trading operations platforms and low-latency systems, to deliver cutting-edge infrastructure solutions across their enterprise server estate.The Senior System Engineer will play a central role across numerous projects and form part of the critical business operations function that is responsible for monitoring, security, automation, incident management, escalation management, and capacity planning.As a Senior System Engineer you will have an extensive track-record working in enterprise Linux environments (RHEL and CentOS preferred), and have a strong understanding of low-latency trading systems and / or large-scale compute environments (CPU/GPU/xPU).The Senior System will also have a strong inclination towards automation and Infrastructure-as-Code using tools such as Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible etc, and posses knowledge of storage system technology based on Lustre, Weka, Ceph, Vast, PowerScale, DDN, MinIO etcIn summary, the Senior System Engineer, will have the following skills and competencies:Strong Linux Engineering (RHEL or CentOS) skills ideally on low-latency trading platforms and / or large-scale compute environmentsKnowledge of monitoring, security, incident management, capacity planning, scaling, and optimisationExperience in server and network management, configuration, and troubleshooting with broad knowledge across server hardware, TCP, NTP, PTP etcKnowledge of storage systems with exposure to technology inc. Lustre, Weka, Ceph, Vast, PowerScale, DDN, MinIO etcKnowledge of hardware including CPU/GPU/xPU architecturesInterest in automation and IaC using Kubernetes, Slurm, Prometheus and Terraform or AnsibleProficiency in scripting across Python and / or BashBachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related fields)Strong communication skillsOur client can offer an initial 6 month contract with a high likelihood of extension due to the start of an enterprise wide transformation programme planned for the next two years.If you would like to know more about the role, please send me your most recent CV and we will be in contact to discuss in more detail.
