Position Summary

As part of Sheffield Haworth’s strategic growth, investment is being made to operationally support the evolution and transformation aligned to all its business lines. The Contracts Manager / Paralegal will be key to the scalable growth and development of the business. This engagement is to help define the structure and development of our processes, governance and risk management and also to sustain the day-to-day Commercial and Legal demands from our existing and expanding client base.


Role & Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Contracts Manager / Paralegal are to support all areas of our business across the Client, but in the main, to undertake the following processes:


  • Review, draft and negotiate a variety of contract agreements.
  • Process contractual documentation – Consultancy MSAs, contractor agreements, NDAs and so on from creation through to execution. Identify issues, risks, and recommend their acceptability.
  • Manage contract renewals, extensions and amendments with external clients as and when required.
  • Support the management, commercial, finance and client teams by summarising and explaining key contractual terms and obligations of client contracts both at the point of setup and on an ongoing basis.
  • Maintaining contract precedents and shared drive folders.
  • Communicate with clients on contractual aspects as required.
  • IR35 compliance and governance.
  • Managing and maintaining a central contracts management database for the above and all supporting documents.
  • Contract Risk Management from end-client, Sheffield Haworth and consultant contracts whilst ensuring the flow down (mirroring/back-to-back) of MSA and SOW obligations to contractor agreements.
  • Handle day-to-day data protection and GDPR queries.
  • Manage the contract-cycle from beginning to end, including recording contract terms.
  • Inputting data into the case management system and invoice payment generation.
  • Provide weekly reports to Change Consulting Practice on MSA review and SOW completion, outstanding items, and any actions required.
  • Pragmatic problem solving for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain the knowledge of key regulation and legislation changes impacting the business models the business operates and liaising with relevant team members.
  • Working closely with Finance to ensure any queries regarding legal issues arising from a finance perspective are addressed.


This role offers a great development opportunity and chance to get involved in the work of the various teams, under supervision and with support from the Group General Counsel (a qualified Solicitor and member of the Solicitor Regulation Authority).


Experience and Skills

  • Ideally looking for a law graduate.
  • Experience in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating contracts, ideally within recruitment industry
  • Strong SOW creation, including engaging with clients, and internal stakeholders, to clarify and confirm the details of the SOW.
  • Commercial experience on Time and Material engagements and Fixed Price agreements.
  • Excellent communication techniques – verbal and written.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong organisation skills.
  • Client facing (preferrable).
