About Xlinks

Xlinks exists to capture the power of nature to generate a near-constant, low-cost energy supply and connect it to the point of consumption in real-time. Xlinks’ “first of a kind” project, the Xlinks Morocco-UK Power Project, will provide low-cost, clean power to over 7 million British homes from the end of the decade. Once complete, the project will be capable of supplying 8% of Great Britain’s electricity needs.


Solar panels and wind turbines will generate 10.5GW of zero carbon electricity to deliver 3.6GW of reliable energy for an average of 20+ hours a day, complimented by an onsite 20GWh/5GW battery facility. The new electricity generation and battery storage facilities will be located in Morocco’s renewable energy-rich region of Guelmim Oued Noun and will be connected exclusively to Great Britain via 3,800km HVDC sub-sea cables.


The project will provide a dedicated, near-constant source of flexible and predictable clean energy for Britain, designed to complement the renewable energy already generated across the UK.

About the role

 

We are delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to join Xlinks in the position of Investment Associate/Senior Associate. The successful candidate will have financial and/or investment experience in the renewables, energy transition or infrastructure sectors. The Investment Associate/Senior Associate will join our growing Investment Team, working closely with the Investment Director and Chief Investment Officer across a full range of corporate development initiatives; equity, debt, investments, and broader commercial activities, and will be critical to supporting Xlinks in its next phase of growth as it scales to deliver its long-term ambitions. 

 

The ideal candidate will act as a role model within the organisation, driving the business whilst being able to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholder, leadership teams and regulators.

 

The role is on a hybrid basis with typically 3 days per week working from our London office.

 

Key Accountabilities


  • Assist in the evaluation of corporate development activities for the Company, supporting the internal decision-making process, including fundamental analysis and preparation of internal presentations for senior stakeholders and the Board.
  • Design, build, evaluate, and operate financial models for corporate development activities to include capital raising, project finance, corporate debt, investment activities.
  • To cover different levels of complexity and styles from non-recourse project financing to analysis of corporate options
  • Transaction process management, for example, management of 3rd party advisors, due diligence, documentation, and VDR.
  • Perform risk assessments on transactions to mitigate key elements of the risk profile.
  • Prepare marketing/investor materials.

 

Experience and Skills Required


  • 3 – 6 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, debt advisory, investment team at an IPP/ corporate, or transactions at the big four. With a strong preference for renewables or broader infrastructure experience.
  • Very strong technical background in project finance/ financial modelling, economic principles, commercials, and transaction management.
  • Experience running/ negotiating processes; M&A, project finance, and broader transactions.
  • Strong communication skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels of seniority; internal and external.
  • Commercial mindset: good understanding of the commercial rationale for corporate development decisions, ability to identify and contextualize risk, and to reach a balanced conclusion based on a range of qualitative and quantitative inputs.
  • Ability to work with a proactive mindset (if something needs doing, you pick it up)
  • Intellectually curious; looking for a role that provides challenge and continuous engagement, identifying and solving novel problems daily.
