Our UK-based defence client are seeking a Principal Electronic Design Engineer to join their expanding team and work on various defence packages.


They specialise in providing support services to the defence, marine and space sectors, offering both technical and engineering expertise, focusing on areas such as system design, project management, and consultancy.


Working on naval projects, those with a maritime background would be highly preferred, although those with other relevant defence backgrounds will be considered.


Note: This role requires applicants to either hold UKSC Clearance, or be eligible for it (Sole UK Nationals)


Your Duties:

  • Leadership and Management of the Hardware Team
  • Design, specify and verify digital and electronic hardware
  • Design calculations
  • Produce simulations to estimate performance and to identify any risk
  • Test, verify and re-develop (if necessary) hardware
  • Provide technical direction and leadership across a range of Projects
  • Ensure designs are suitable for mass production
  • Assist production with debugging and resolving any electronic issues
  • Contribute to design reviews
  • Interpret complex concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders


Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • A Degree, ideally within Electrical or Electronic Engineering
  • Experience with either High Speed Digital Design or Analogue Circuits design
  • Able to develop large complex designs that require multi-layer PCB’s
  • Understanding and working knowledge of electrical related Defence Standards (e.g. Def Stan 59-411)
  • Proficient user of AutoCAD Electrical or similar
  • Experience in reviewing electrical schematics in accordance with relevant standards and internal (CAD) processes
  • ***Must be able to obtain UK Eyes Only security clearance***
