We’re working with a Scottish Med-Tech to help them recruit for a Junior/Mid Data Engineer. Their platform supports research (and is incredibly data focused) – with tangible benefits to healthcare / medicine and very relevant to worldwide events as of late. Working here you will know that all your efforts are making a positive impact globally.
Working Environment
As well as being a Tech-For-Good company, they offer a welcoming environment which has led to a really small staff turnover so it’s a unique opportunity. Given it is a junior position, they are offer plenty of training and development opportunities. For example, each employee has a training budget, there’s often one-to-ones and appraisals and they can offer a development plan so that you can shape the direction of your career.
As mentioned, it is a remote position but they have sporadic meet-ups in either Glasgow or Edinburgh. They also offer a 9-day fortnight with flexible working Their core hours are between 10 – 4 but besides this you can choose to work your hours how you like.
Technical Environment
Currently the Development team is 30 strong, boasting Back-End, Front-End, Full Stack Developers, DevOps Engineers, Data Engineers and Product Managers – it’s a really established environment. They’re also a Scrum team that truly embody best practices from TDD, BDD and DevOps.
They're currently working with Azure so you’ll have the chance to hone your cloud skills, they’re also happy to upskill candidates that move from another cloud platform too. In this position you’ll often be working with Python to develop ETL pipelines so experience in this area is crucial as well as SQL of course.
