Business Unit: Road Freight


Main Responsibilities:


Leadership and Management:

  • Independently manage and develop the UK region.
  • Oversee business operations, including Domestic & European Groupage, LTL/FTL, and Transport Related Warehousing.
  • Full P&L responsibility, ensuring the region meets its financial targets.

Strategic Development:

  • Consolidate and expand the region's market position by developing new and existing products and driving corresponding sales activities.
  • Secure, support, and expand existing customer relationships while acquiring new customers.
  • Lead strategic regional development initiatives, including acquisitions, to strengthen geographical setup and product competence.

Employee Management:

  • Exercise comprehensive management and supervisory responsibilities, including selecting, developing, and motivating employees.
  • Lead a team by fostering a culture of performance, engagement, and continuous development.

Market Analysis and Competitor Monitoring:

  • Analyse direct and indirect competitors to inform strategic decision-making and business development.
  • Optimise KPIs, setting targets and deriving measures to drive regional success.

Process Optimization:

  • Monitor, optimise, and further develop regional processes to enhance efficiency and performance.


Professional Profile:


Qualifications:

  • Vocational training in freight forwarding, or alternatively, completed studies in transport, logistics, or business administration.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years in management roles with multi-site responsibility in the road freight sector.
  • Proven track record of sustainable success in the general cargo/groupage sector with full budget responsibility.
  • Strong operational background.

Skills:

  • High affinity for numbers and financial management.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with experience in managing diverse teams.
  • Deep understanding of the UK regional market and culture.
  • Strong negotiating, decision-making, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Dynamic, inspiring, and open to digitalisation initiatives.
