The Data Centre Business Development Manager is responsible for developing the Company’s sales activities into the hyperscale and co-location data centre market and achieving product sales goals set each financial year. Focus will be Chiller, AHU, Fan Wall, CRAH and Controls product sales to hyperscale data centre operators and developers, through specification, approved product status and supplier agreements.



This role will be remote working but will be expected to spend time in both our UK locations based in Cramlington, Northumberland and Dartford, Kent as well as travelling within the UK and overseas


.

This will be a Senior Sales Position.


Responsibilities

  • Achieve set sales targets, selling within prescribed discount structure, maximising sales margin where possible.
  • Develop a data centre business plan in conjunction with National Chiller Sales Manager and Commercial Director with Periodic review of potential UK hyperscale customers to carefully focus activities.
  • Develop relationships with the target Hyperscale operator and developers, to achieve approved supplier status/ approved Vendor list and help negotiate supplier agreements.
  • .Attend Data Centre trade exhibitions and networking events.
  • Co-ordination and networking with data centre specialist consultants and contractors working with the target hyperscale operators.
  • Co-ordinate activities with Daikin Group European Data Centre Team.
  • Feedback to factories and product development teams for the target clients, to ensure the products are aligned with both market trends and individual client’s requirements where potential revenues and volumes justify bespoke requirements.
  • Solicit enquiries, provide technical support and provide quotations for client’s requirements.
  • Negotiate orders and transmit clean order packages to head office for execution, being mindful of contract risks e.g. terms and conditions, customer credit worthiness, framework agreements.
  • Project co-ordination and handover in conjunction with Chiller Project Management Team.
  • Performs other related duties and assigned or requested.


Skills

  • Minimum 5-year Experience of Data Centre Sector
  • Developed Contacts and networking capability within the hyperscale sector
  • Proven track record of product sales into data centres, with data centre cooling sector experience
  • Understanding of controls solutions and applications (dedicated controls support will be provided)
  • Confident technical communicator and presenter


Qualifications


Minimum GSCSE Qualifications (A*- C)

HNC/D or Degree in Mechanical / HVAC discipline or equivalent would be an advantage
