Estimator – Structural & Architectural Steel – Scotland


My client is a well-established steelwork specialist, delivering complete packages from design and manufacture through to installation and maintenance. They are looking for an experienced Estimator to join their team in Scotland.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for structural and architectural steel projects.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to assess project requirements.
  • Source and obtain competitive material and subcontractor quotes.
  • Analyse project risks and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure accurate pricing.
  • Work closely with the design and contracts teams to ensure smooth project handovers.
  • Prepare and submit tenders and proposals within deadlines.
  • Monitor and update cost databases to maintain pricing accuracy.
  • Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings when required.


Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an Estimator within the steelwork industry.
  • Strong understanding of structural and architectural steelwork processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in estimation software and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
