The Opportunity


As a Health & Safety Intern, you will be responsible for providing hands-on experience in workplace health and safety practices while supporting the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) manager. The Health & Safety Intern will assist in implementing safety programs, conducting audits, and promoting a culture of safety within the organisation.


The Specifics


Safety Audits:

  • Assist in conducting workplace safety inspections and risk assessments.
  • Document findings and support the implementation of corrective actions.


Policy and Procedure Development:

  • Help in reviewing and updating safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current regulations.
  • Draft safety communications and training materials.


Incident Investigation:

  • Assist in investigating workplace incidents and identifying root causes.
  • Support the preparation of reports and recommend measures to prevent reoccurrence.


Training Support:

  • Organize and participate in safety training sessions and workshops.
  • Create and distribute safety awareness materials.


Data Management:

  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training activities.
  • Analyse safety data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.


Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay informed about health and safety regulations and standards (e.g., ISO 45001).
  • Assist in ensuring company practices comply with UK Health and Safety regulations.


Some important characteristics we are looking for

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field or have previous work experience in a related field.
  • Basic understanding of workplace safety principles and regulations.
  • Strong organisational and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive attitude.
  • Experience with safety management software or tools.
  • Familiarity with incident reporting and investigation processes.
