We are actively seeking a skilled and experienced individual for the position of Intellectual Property (IP) Paralegal / manager. This role is tailored to someone with a background in engineering or science, possessing substantial expertise in intellectual property (IP) and the broader IP landscape or graduates with 2-3 years experience who have completed an approved intellectual property course.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Manage and contribute to both in-house and external third-party patent searches.
  • Manage and provide strategic guidance on Freedom to Operate (FTO), leveraging insights from knowledge acquired from our in-house design teams and external patent attorneys.
  • Collaborate effectively with external legal professionals to optimize our IP strategy.
  • Take responsibility for the management and oversight of our comprehensive IP portfolio.
  • Provide expert advice to project teams on potential issues or infringements related to intellectual property.
  • Advise project teams and the wider business on the patentability of products and associated benefits.
  • Collaborate closely with the finance team to ensure thorough patent box coverage and meticulous management of IP costs.
  • Work in partnership with Research and Development (R&D) teams and external professionals to minimise potential legal exposure and maximise protection.
  • Manage and delegate patent drafting and freedom-to-operate (FTO) oppositions with external attorneys as required.

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Background in engineering or science, degree preferred.
  • Substantial experience in intellectual property (IP).
  • Experienced graduates with an approved intellectual property (IP) course are encouraged to apply.
