Job Title: Business Unit Director – Space Technology

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Business Unit Director to lead our Space Technology division in Leeds. As the Business Unit Director, you will be responsible for driving the strategic direction, growth, and profitability of the space technology sector. You will lead a talented team and oversee all business operations, from product development to client relationships, ensuring the successful delivery of cutting-edge space technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement business strategies to drive growth and expand market share in the space technology sector.
  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of engineers, project managers, and technical experts to deliver innovative space technologies.
  • Business Development: Identify new business opportunities, foster relationships with key clients, and manage partnerships with stakeholders in the space industry.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring project timelines, budgets, and client expectations are met.
  • Financial Management: Manage the business unit's financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation to ensure profitability.
  • Innovation: Stay ahead of industry trends and technological advancements to ensure the business unit remains competitive and innovative in the space technology market.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure all projects meet regulatory standards, and manage risk assessments to ensure successful project delivery.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a leadership role within the space technology or aerospace industry.
  • Strong background in business strategy, project management, and financial management.
  • Expertise in space systems, satellite technologies, and related space industry fields.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and execute strategic business plans with measurable outcomes.
  • A strong network within the space technology sector is highly advantageous.
  • A degree in aerospace engineering, space technology, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
