Opportunity - Investment Director / Partner


Cornell are partnered with an early-stage fund who are in growth mode and seeking experienced investors to join their team. Ideally, you will have a proven track record in identifying, evaluating, and investing in high-potential startups and share their passion for backing cutting-edge technologies. As a key member of the team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of the fund as well as driving their investment strategy.


Responsibilities


  • Drive the end-to-end investment process, from deal origination and structuring to negotiation and closing.
  • Actively monitor and manage existing portfolio companies, tracking key performance metrics, identifying areas for growth and optimisation, and providing ongoing support to management teams.
  • Represent the fund at industry events, conferences, and networking forums, showcasing their expertise and fostering relationships within the tech ecosystem.


Candidate Profile


  • Proven 4+ years direct investment experience in the deeptech space.
  • Understanding of technology trends, market dynamics, and business models within the tech landscape in the UK and Europe (in particular AI and ML).
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for innovation and a willingness to roll up your sleeves and contribute to the success of their growing fund.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, physics, or a related field.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
