Graduate Design Engineer

Keltbray Rail are looking for Graduate Design Engineers to work for Wentworth House Rail Systems, in our office in Preston Brook, Runcorn.


The right candidate will have studies either Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering and be looking for an office based role within the design function.


Primary Tasks;

  • Undertake/assist in electrification design in accordance with WHRS quality management system, to meet agreed programmes and budgets.
  • Undertake System, Basic, Allocation and Construction design of railway electrification in accordance with appropriate International, National, Railway Group and Network Rail Company Standards. (For Network Rail Projects in accordance with the Company’s Accreditation Certification - NR/SP/ELP/21130)
  • Ensure that the Company Design Assurance is applied to all allocated projects
  • Undertake/assist in site surveys
  • Checking the work of CAD technicians


Skills and Qualifications;

  • Degree qualified in relevant engineering discipline or equivalent
  • Shall have a sound understanding of the CDM Regulations, specifically the designers requirements.
  • Possess good leadership, communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to direct technical resource and labour as required
  • Ability to monitor compliance of delivery
  • Time management
  • Ability to self-check and monitor own performance according to budget constraints
