We currently have a vacancy to join one of the world’s leading, global defence, security and aerospace companies as a Principal Power Systems Electrical Engineer. The role can be based at any of the following sites: Barrow in Furness, Bristol, Brough, Portsmouth, Weymouth, Frimley or Manchester and offers the opportunity for hybrid working and flexible working hours. They work at the cutting edge of technology, creating more than 100 new inventions every year for customers in over 100 countries.

Working on the UK’s next-generation SSN design that incorporates technology from the UK, Australia and the United States you will be part of the Electrical Power team responsible for defining the needs of equipment, defining the system elements required to feed into the submarine design and build process, including design documentation, spatial modelling and build outputs.



Main Responsibilities:


Functional design and definition of Electrical Power Systems equipment

Authoring and reviewing technical documentation

Managing associated technical risks, assumptions and dependencies

Providing advice on electrical power technical aspects across a broad range of engineering disciplines

Engaging with customers and suppliers to provide solutions to complex problems

Taking a leading role by guiding more junior members of the team through the systems definition process

About You:


Degree qualified Electrical Engineering or equivalent Engineering experience

Engineering Chartership required (or significant progress towards Chartership can be demonstrated)

Significant knowledge of AC and DC electrical power systems

Strong analytical and problem solving skills



You must be eligible to apply for SC clearance and, therefore, must hold a British passport and have lived and worked in the UK for the past 5 years
