Robert Half is recruiting for a Compliance & Risk Manager to join a consultancy firm.


ROLE: Compliance & Risk Manager


LENGTH: Perm


LOCATION: Hybrid (London)


PAY: up to £70,000 per annum depending on experience


Overall Responsibility

As a Manager, you will be responsible for serving clients and ensuring the successful execution of projects. This includes developing strong, lasting relationships with clients and understanding their business needs. You will demonstrate technical expertise in your field and industry while leading teams and delivering innovative solutions in the risk and compliance space.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Client Engagement

  • Lead client engagements in the risk and compliance area, managing larger projects from start to finish, ensuring timely, quality, and budget-compliant delivery.
  • Take ownership of client relationships, maintaining strong communication and ensuring project success.
  • Delegate tasks to team members effectively while monitoring and ensuring the quality of their work.
  • Create meaningful development opportunities for your team members through thoughtful assignments.

Team Development & Innovation

  • Build and lead a high-performing, diverse team that consistently delivers excellent client service and value.
  • Develop a repeatable process that fosters innovation and drives creative solutions within project teams.

Client & Market Expansion

  • Work with senior leadership to strengthen and expand existing client relationships.
  • Lead the proposal, bid, and pitch processes for new client engagements.
  • Promote the company’s services within the UK market while collaborating with global offices to ensure consistency and expand reach.

Thought Leadership & Expertise Development

  • Contribute to thought leadership by developing white papers, frequently asked questions (FAQs), and marketing materials.
  • Develop new areas of specialism and expertise to differentiate yourself and the company within the market.

Skills & Experience

We are seeking individuals with experience delivering regulatory projects in areas including (but not limited to):

  • Regulatory Areas: Consumer duty & conduct risk, governance design & review, compliance monitoring, operational risk & resilience, risk & controls transformation, process mining, anti-financial crime, lender due diligence, and skilled person reviews (S166).
  • Conduct regulatory impact assessments and gap analyses.
  • Design and support compliance functions, such as Compliance Assurance & effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement risk & compliance frameworks, including remediation programs.
  • Conduct policy and procedure assessments, development, and implementation.
  • Perform independent audits and impact assessments of risk and compliance functions.
  • Automate, develop, and implement risk and control frameworks.
  • Map regulatory requirements to business products, controls, and risks.
  • Provide support for regulatory examinations, including independent assurance reports, interview preparation, program management, and response drafting.
  • Conduct past business and suitability reviews.
  • Design and review governance arrangements.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster teamwork and build client relationships.
  • Solid understanding of business ethics and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to document findings and recommendations clearly.
  • Ability to handle highly confidential information in a professional manner.

  • Business development skills with the ability to strengthen and grow client relationships.
  • Ability to multitask and maintain professionalism in high-pressure environments.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Education & Professional Credentials

  • 5+ years of experience in a related field, preferably within consulting, professional services, or financial services.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum 2:2 or equivalent preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as ICAEW, ACAMS, CCEP, or equivalent are preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
