Our client is a highly profitable Top Ten UK Contractor with a strong workload in their high performing business unit in London. Due to a series of project wins, my client is now looking to add a Senior Design Manager to their team.


My clients work portfolio includes Life Sciences, Education, Mixed Use, Leisure and Residential schemes with values ranging from £10m-£200m.


Applicants must have experience of working in the Tier 1 Contracting market.


The Role


Reporting into the Head of Design, you will be required to work on one or a number of my clients high profile projects in London. The role would be be based from their HQ in Kings Cross with site visits as necessary.


  • Establish, maintain and manage effective project design resource and team profile at bid and delivery stages
  • Lead and provide a professional, comprehensive and sustainable design service for the customer and key partners and suppliers at bid and delivery stages
  • Manage and coordinate safely the overall design process through the RIBA design stages challenging the brief and bringing innovation and continuous improvements benefits to the projects at bid and delivery stages
  • Ensure completion and compliance of design management departmental procedures at bid and delivery stages
  • Ensure adherence to the design brief and develop a comprehensive scope of service for key stages of project
  • Programme and manage all design reviews and coordination meetings
  • Ensure design strategy is in place and work closely with discipline lead designers to deliver coordinated design solutions
  • Ensure that design is developed in line with commercial and construction requirements and the cost plan budget allowances

Requirements


  • JCT/NEC Contract Experience
  • Experience of working on Two Stage Tender / PCSA
  • Proven Background with Tier 1 Contractors
  • Significant experience in the main contracting market with experience of working on Life Sciences/Education/Commercial Schemes
