A leading commodity trading organization dedicated to optimizing global trade through innovative solutions and sustainable practices are offering the opportunity for Senior Operational Risk Analyst to join their Operational Risk Management team and play a pivotal role in shaping and executing their risk strategy.


Role Overview

As a Senior Operational Risk Analyst, you will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and monitoring operational risks across the trading and support activities. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Front Office, IT, Compliance, and Finance, to ensure robust risk management practices are in place, continuously improving the risk framework in alignment with business objectives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Risk Identification & Assessment: Proactively identify, evaluate, and assess operational risks across all business units, with a focus on trading and transaction processes.
  • Framework Enhancement: Contribute to the development and implementation of risk management frameworks, policies, and procedures tailored to the nuances of commodity trading.
  • Incident Monitoring & Analysis: Conduct thorough root-cause analyses of operational risk incidents and near misses, providing insights to prevent recurrence.
  • Control Effectiveness: Evaluate the design and effectiveness of controls to mitigate operational risk, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory standards.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to develop and implement operational risk controls, ensuring risks are managed efficiently and aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Data Analytics & Reporting: Develop risk metrics and dashboards to provide transparent, timely, and insightful reporting to senior management on operational risk exposures.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on regulatory requirements impacting operational risk in the commodities trading sector and ensure adherence across functions.
  • Training & Awareness: Drive risk awareness and best practices across teams, providing training sessions and risk education where necessary.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience: Experience in operational risk management, with significant exposure to commodities trading space, preferably physical commodities.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely to senior management.
  • Problem-Solving Orientation: A strategic thinker with a proactive approach to identifying risks and implementing effective solutions.
  • Attention to Detail: Highly organized with strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards.


The role is onsite 3 days per week in London with a salary range of £100-120k, depending on experience. The wider package includes bonus, pension, Bupa healthcare and more.
