UK_VAT Accountant

Proclinical is seeking a VAT Specialist for an Accountancy position to join the Tax COE Europe team. This role focuses on managing VAT reporting compliance for various European and international markets, ensuring all deadlines are met. Additionally, the successful candidate will provide advice on VAT compliance-related queries and maintain awareness of local VAT legislation to meet stakeholder expectations.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, or annual VAT returns and other indirect tax returns using Excel and/or tax return preparation tools.
• Request necessary VAT submission approvals from internal stakeholders, follow up on VAT payment requests, and archive documentation post-submission.
• Prepare VAT General Ledger reconciliations and address any issues or open items.
• Reconcile GL sales to reported VAT sales and resolve discrepancies.
• Manage and assist with VAT compliance queries from the business.
• Support the preparation of VAT requirements documents and other necessary documentation.
• Collaborate with the Tax Technology team to test and implement requirements timely.
• Continuously monitor VAT legislation for relevant changes.
• Assist in maintaining VAT codes tables and VAT codes in the accounting system.
• Support VAT audits and liaise with tax authorities as needed.
• Contribute to the strategy of standardization, automation, continuous improvement, and risk management.

Key Skills and Requirements:

• Experience in VAT compliance within a multi-national tax environment.
• Proficiency with SAP or Oracle is advantageous.
• Excellent Excel skills.
• Fluency in English.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work with diverse teams.
• Effective communication skills for a diverse audience at multiple levels.
• Autonomous working capability.
• Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
• Team-oriented approach and ability to establish formal relationships with internal customers.
