We have an exciting opportunity for a BI Analyst to join our dynamic team. This role is required to support the continued growth, client satisfaction, and operational excellence of SEKO Logistics through the development of its core reporting infrastructure.


The BI Analyst will be expected to design and build data a scalable data warehouse and data mart models using a combination of SQL, Power BI Modelling, and DAX. Experience of Azure DevOps frameworks (or similar task management and source control systems) would be beneficial, and there would be opportunity to design and maintain data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Spark, and other technologies. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Elicit requirements from end users
  • Reverse engineer existing reports (BI platform/Excel/Operational System)
  • Validate report output against source systems/reports
  • Consider design approaches to convey KPIs and increase adoption
  • Work with users and other members of the global BI team to fully understand new requests
  • Planning changes with thought of how the data will be reported and consumed by end users
  • Design changes to the data model as required, following the agreed process and checks to maintain data integrity
  • Work with data engineering team to deploy data model changes
  • Cross check data provided by end users against the working data model
  • Ensure the data model maintains cardinality and data integrity
  • Develop reports to quickly convey the necessary information to end-users
  • Consider how the data will be consumed and it’s purpose. Potentially create a few proof of concepts and select the most widely accepted for production
  • Work to ensure reports are created once for use many times


Technical Skills:

  • Power BI report design, data modelling, and measure/column definition (DAX)
  • Good Working Knowledge of SQL
  • Use of Apache Spark with Spark SQL, Python, R, or similar
  • Experience with incremental data warehouse updates, and CDC from source
  • Highly skilled in data management and data transformation
  • Knowledge of general database architectures or a specific architecture
  • Previous experience designing data models and structures
  • Experienced with visual data presentation
  • Fully Microsoft Office literate to an advanced level

Desirable skills:

·        Experience within the logistics, freight forwarding, or transport industries

·        Experience working with cloud database environments

·        Understanding of JSON and XML data structures, and how to map/transform these

·        Use of database performance tuning approaches

·        Wider systems development experience

·        Experience with other data-oriented languages and/or non-data languages

·        An understanding of machine learning patterns and approaches
