Fimatix are helping one of our leading Financial Services clients during their period of expansion. We are recruiting a Senior Java Developer for their team. This is a remote role based in the United Kingdom.


Their solution is an innovative platform allowing companies to collaborate on governance, risk and compliance documents smarter, faster and more efficiently while solving multiple workflow and organisational problems.


They are a small and agile team with a presence across Europe, USA and Asia. Company is growing very quickly due to the increased demand from new clients.


At the same time, the rapidly growing codebase brings its own difficulties in developing new features, maintaining existing ones, and deploying. We are looking for an experienced backend programmer who is able to find beautiful solutions, bring tasks to the end and on time. We work in short iterations, so we expect you to be able to divide a large task into simple independent components.


Your key responsibilities and accountabilities will be:

  • Developing new functionality in accordance with product specifications
  • Ensuring written code is thoroughly tested
  • Maintaining the existing code base
  • Participating in deployment and support activities


At the heart of their technology stack is Kotlin with Java 17. They also use PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch and Redis, as well as Python for individual tasks. The development cycle is based on Git, Gradle and Jenkins. Development ide is JB IDEA.

A maintainable code is no less important to them than the absence of bugs, so we pay serious attention to code review and discussion of architectural solutions.


About you

  • Strong knowledge of Java / Kotlin and Spring (Spring Boot stack)
  • Knowledge of basic data structures and understanding of basic algorithms
  • Experience with relational databases (in particular PostgreSQL)
  • Experience with full-text search solutions (in particular Elasticsearch)
  • Experience in developing web-applications
  • Good sense of humour

Nice to have, but not a must

  • Understanding micro-service architecture
  • Experience in Unix-like systems
  • Knowledge of Python

Backend Responsibilities:

  • Designing and developing server-side applications using Kotlin and related technologies
  • Developing and maintaining APIs for server-client communication
  • Designing and implementing optimized database schemas
  • Ensuring security and scalability of backend systems
  • Collaborating with front-end developers for seamless integration
  • Structuring, modularizing, and maintaining the backend codebase
  • Debugging and fixing reported issues
  • Conducting code reviews and providing feedback
  • Staying updated with the latest backend technologies and best practices
