Faringdon, United Kingdom Geo-4D Full time

Geo-4D Overview

Geo-4D is an independent geoscience consultancy and survey specialist based in Faringdon, Oxfordshire, UK, with a focus on offshore geoscience and geodata acquisition, processing and interpretation.

Our geoscience consultancy department conducts analysis and integration of geophysical, geotechnical and geological datasets to characterise site conditions and hazards, largely within the offshore renewable energy and interconnector cable sectors.

Our geodata acquisition department specialises in using novel techniques to characterise complex onshore, intertidal and shallow marine sites.

The Position

Geo-4D is looking for a Graduate Survey Geoscientist to join the team. The role will largely support the Geodata Acquisition department, whilst also supporting the Offshore Geoconsultancy department, as required.

The Geodata Acquisition role will involve leading onsite survey operations, largely using uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs), uncrewed surface vehicles (USVs) and other geophysical/survey techniques to characterise sites. Data collection typically comprises an assortment of topographical, imagery, magnetometer, seismics and shallow geotechnical probing, conducted both in the UK and internationally. The position may also include offshore survey work onboard geophysical survey vessels, operating geophysical equipment and small submersible remotely operated vehicles.

Following site works, the successful candidate will conduct data processing, interpretation and associated reporting, along with routine maintenance of equipment and sensors.

The role will involve mixture of office-based and site works. Site work is likely to comprise approximately 20-50% of the candidate’s time, with site operations typically lasting up to 1 week, but on occasion up to 4 weeks for larger international projects.

When necessary, the successful candidate will be required to assist the Offshore Geoconsultancy department, conducting processing, interpretation and analysis of geophysical, geotechnical and geological datasets for offshore renewable energy projects.

The Graduate Survey Geoscientist will also be required to perform project management duties, support business development, assist with tendering, and support day-to-day running of the organisation, in additional to the technical project-based responsibilities. Training will be provided as required.
