About the Role:

As the Design Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our client’s product designs. You will lead the design function of company to create innovative, efficient, and high-quality solutions that meet performance, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness targets. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Innovation & Development: Drive the advancement of product designs by integrating cutting-edge technologies, materials, and manufacturing techniques.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with R&D, manufacturing, and other departments to ensure designs are optimized for production, assembly, and durability.
  • Project Management: Oversee multiple design projects, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and compliance with quality standards.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide guidance on complex engineering challenges, ensuring solutions align with business objectives.
  • Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure all designs meet safety, regulatory, and quality standards, including ISO, CE Marking, and HSE requirements.
  • Cost & Material Management: Produce material lists and project costings, collaborating with the purchasing department to optimize resources.
  • Strategic Input: Contribute to management meetings, providing insights on project progress, design strategies, and business developments.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance design processes, workflows, and tools to boost efficiency and innovation.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience in mechanical design engineering.
  • Industry Knowledge: Proven experience in designing heavy machinery, industrial equipment, or similar large-scale engineered products (preferred).
  • Technical Proficiency: Expertise in CAD software (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and simulation tools (e.g., FEA, CFD, Inventor Simulation).
  • Manufacturing Acumen: Basic knowledge of machining, welding, and assembly processes.
  • Regulatory Understanding: Familiarity with industry standards such as ISO 9001, BS, and UKCA.
  • Project Management: Ability to oversee multiple projects, manage priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-Solving & Innovation: A creative and analytical mindset with a focus on engineering excellence.
  • Communication & Leadership: Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to inspire and drive team performance.
