Our agricultural business includes the manufacture of combine harvesters, balers, grape harvesters, and of course, multi-purpose tractors with various engine powers. Tractors from our medium range (100-210 hp) are assembled at our headquarters for the New Holland brand in Basildon, England.

Industrial Placements and Graduate Opportunities

What are we looking for?

We wish to recruit students to work in the following discipline at our Basildon head office and plant, for 12 months, starting in July - August 2024. We are looking for under graduate students requiring an industrial placement as part of their engineering university course.

Noise, Vibration and Harshness

The objective of this placement is the development of tractors to meet vehicle-engineering targets for performance, quality and reliability. This placement involves supporting the Product Validation team in noise and vibration testing and analysis of development vehicles using on-highway/off-highway industry standard testing methods and data acquisition systems.

Outcomes from this placement will include providing an excellent understanding of Noise and Vibration theory and practice; practical knowledge of test equipment; along with test and analysis techniques; team and communication skills; and problem solving skills.


Basic Function:

  • Preparation and testing of components and vehicles and analysis of test results.
  • Investigation and reporting of concerns, with the overall aim of understanding vehicle noise/vibration characteristics and component durability performance.
  • A broad range of test techniques will be used including accelerometer measurements, interior and exterior acoustics, point mobility and simple modal analysis techniques..


Job requirements and qualifications:

  • Candidates should be enthusiastic and possess good oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer literacy to high standard.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • All positions may require travel to dealers, suppliers or test sites and therefore some flexibility in working hours is required.
