Position: Data Centre Technician

Location: Slough and Farringdon

Contract: Full time, permanent

Salary: £31,000 basic, moving up to £39,000 with shift bonuses

Boasting clients such as Amazon, LinkedIn and Google, they have successfully deployed solutions in some of the world’s biggest Data Centers. Due to continued growth, they are in need of a Data Centre Support Engineer.


You will be responsible for providing support to senior engineers, predominantly working in a hands-on capacity, conducting IMACD and maintaining accurate records on the company's asset management system. This will be working with a high profile banking clients, so experience working with financial services clients would be a big plus


IMPORTANT NOTE: This role will be hybrid across both the Slough and St Paul's sites. It is imperative that you are willing and able to work across both locations.


If you get the role, you'll be:


  • Delivering IMACD (Installation, Moves, Adds, Changes, and Decommission) Services.
  • Handling a wide range of tasks, from minor adjustments like patching and fault identification to executing extensive equipment and device refreshes, including new installations, decommissions, relocations, and maintenance.
  • Operating in a 24x7x366 service availability model and reporting to the local Service Delivery Manager.
  • Managing control functions.
  • Handling office/workspace installations and decommissions.
  • Managing technology space installations and decommissions.
  • Executing cabling tasks.
  • Managing incident resolution.
  • Maintaining documentation.


To be a success in this role, you will need:


  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working in a banking IT environment.
  • At least 3 years of experience in an Installation, Moves, Adds, and Changes (IMAC) environment, specifically in IT hardware deployment.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in structured cabling installation, fault diagnosis, and testing using Fluke test equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of structured cabling standards and cable types (FTP, UTP, and Optical Fiber).
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong prioritization and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to perform under pressure.
  • Thorough understanding of Asset Management Systems.
  • Proficiency in Ticketing Systems.
  • Comprehensive understanding of complex change management and service delivery processes.
  • Capability to mentor and train new team members in all systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Capability to approve and sign off on training modules.
  • Ability to lead and supervise shift activities.
  • A satisfactory Skills Matrix score.


It would be great if you had any of the following:


  • COMPTIA A+ certification.
  • COMPTIA Network+ certification.
  • COMPTIA Server+ certification.
  • Previous training or qualifications in the Information Technology field.
  • Certified Network Cable Installer (CNCI®).
  • Certified Network Infrastructure Technician (CNIT®).
  • Certified Data Centre Technician Professional (CDCTP®).
