The opportunity: Power BI Developer based in Purfleet, Essex/ hybrid working.


About the opportunity:


This is an exciting opportunity to join our talented IT team at Carpetright. You’ll be supporting the effective development and management of the Carpetright BI platform. Working with end users, developers, and analysts to ensure that the platform meets business reporting requirements and enables data-driven decision making.



  • Manage day to day Power BI reporting systems and processes.
  • Develop, optimise, and maintain Power BI Reports, Apps and Dashboards in line with business requirements, supporting continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for the management of ETL processes, including but not limited to, D365 F&O data exports, SQL data transformation and Power BI data model refreshes.
  • Monitor all BI data processes to identify and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Responsible for communicating any updates or issues to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide project support and planning, including test plans and UAT criteria.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations on best practices or technologies that would enhance the business BI capabilities.
  • Provide ad-hoc reporting and analysis, ensuring that all development is in line with wider strategic objectives.
  • Assign and manage report access and permissions.


About You and Your Experience:


  • Proficient in Power BI Development, including the development of Reports, Dashboards and Apps.
  • Ability to develop complex measures in DAX.
  • Proficient in O365 suite of applications (Word, Excel etc)
  • Experience in Azure DevOps.
  • General reporting and data knowledge.
  • Substantial Microsoft D365 ERP experience.
  • Understand how to assimilate information from various sources.
  • Experience with business and data analysis tools and techniques.
  • Experience with MS SQL Server and T-SQL scripting
  • Experience with M language data transformation
  • Self-motivated, accountable, and approachable with a strong sense of teamwork.
  • Ability to build relationships quickly and inspire trust.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to get the message across and relative to the audience.
  • Good listening skills, with the ability to quickly resolve problems, action solutions and work under pressure.
  • Ability to create formal and informal networks within Carpetright.
  • You’ll demonstrate strong business judgement, supporting Carpetright strategy and vision.
