Cityworx is recruiting on behalf of an established children's home, who are looking for a Deputy Manager for an EBD children's home in the New Malden area.
This role supports the Registered Manager in all aspects of their duties, focusing on ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and promoting the welfare of children in care.
Key Responsibilities:
* The successful candidate would work 40 hours across the week, typically 3 days per week.
* £18.14 per hour, sleep-ins paid at £70.50 per night
* Participate in and support reflective practice for team development.
* Act as deputy to the Registered Manager in their absence.
* Manage the home in line with the company's ethos, enabling children to reach their full potential.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and ensure compliance (Children’s Homes regulations, Quality Standards, Children’s Act).
* Accountable to Ofsted.
* Understand the needs of children with autism, severe learning difficulties, and challenging behaviors.
* Know and apply child protection procedures.
* Manage and support the home's staff team, including recruitment, training, and supervision.
* Liaise with external agencies and ensure statutory compliance.
* Contribute to the home's planning and development.
* Ensure children's involvement in their care and home operations.
* Maintain health and safety standards.
* Develop relationships with stakeholders and support networks for the young people.
* Work flexible hours to meet service needs, including weekends and public holidays.
* Support budget management and accurate record-keeping.
* Maintain the home's physical environment and hygiene standards.
* Assist in referral, assessment, and admission processes, ensuring effective placement planning.
* Support the creation and review of written placement plans for all young people.
* Cater to the social, leisure, cultural, and religious needs of the children.
* Promote education, physical health, and emotional well-being.
* Operate within a key worker system, maintaining confidentiality.
* Arrange and manage events, appointments, and meetings for the young people.
* Act on inspection report recommendations.
* Participate in and support staff training and development.
Job Requirements:
* Mandatory qualifications: Level 3 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Children & Young People’s Services, or equivalent, or commitment to obtain within 12 months of starting.
* Minimum two years of recent (within the last five years) relevant experience in residential care.
* At least one year of experience in supervising and managing professional staff.
* Comprehensive knowledge of Children’s Homes regulations, Quality Standards 2015, The Children’s Homes (Amendment) Regulations 2011, Care Standards Act 2000, Ofsted requirements, and related legislation, policies, and procedures
