Our client is seeking to appoint a dedicated and organised Assistant House Parent to join them at their Prep School from September 2024 as they relaunch their Boarding House in Eastbourne.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone to be responsible for the care, supervision and well-being of pupils; to be responsible for the day-to-day running of the House routines and systems and maintain the good presentation of the House. They will be an advocate for Boarding by maintaining a positive atmosphere in the House.
They require someone who is an empathetic and proactive person who can form a strong presence in the house during the day. They are looking for someone who has excellent communication skills between parents and staff, who is organised and is able to conduct themselves with professionalism and observe confidentiality. In accordance with School policies and procedures they are looking for someone who can provide appropriate administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the House, supervise boarders during the day during breaks and ensure that unwell boarders are accompanied to the Medical Centre or the local hospital as appropriate.
Most of all, they are searching for someone who has experience in working with children and adolescents, they will be a proactive and enthusiastic team player, have relevant first aid & mental health first aid qualifications, if not a holder of certificates in these areas or be willing to acquire one at the School's request. A clean driving licence and access to a vehicle for all shifts is essential.
This is a permanent position, 32 hours per week (0.8 contract), 33 weeks per year PLUS additional weeks to be discussed at interview. Due to the nature of the role, they will require the individual to be on a rota for every other weekend & 2 or 3 nights a week. Accommodation is available only when on duty. The weeks worked per year can be discussed at interview. The hourly rate for this position will be £14.38 plus holiday pay (FTE £30,000).
