About Us: Our Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Aylesbury is dedicated to providing high-quality education and support to students with complex needs, ensuring they receive the best possible opportunities for learning and personal development. Role Overview: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with special educational needs and a commitment to supporting their educational and emotional development.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEND, adapting learning materials to meet individual needs.
* Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support the monitoring of student progress.
* Work closely with teachers and other professionals to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
* Help manage classroom behavior and ensure a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment for all students.
* Support students with personal care needs, where necessary.
* Assist with administrative tasks and the preparation of learning materials.
* Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and other professional development opportunities.
Essential Criteria:
* Experience working with children with special educational needs, preferably within a PRU or similar setting.
* A patient, compassionate, and resilient approach to working with children with complex needs.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the varying needs of students.
* Basic understanding of safeguarding principles and a commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.
Desirable Criteria:
* Relevant qualifications in education or childcare (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, CACHE Level 3).
* Knowledge of specific learning difficulties and strategies to support students with SEND.
* Experience with behavior management techniques.
